A virtual sea of humanity on the sea shore in Puducherry

Tourists throng Pondy

Puducherry, Dec 31: Tourists from neighbouring States and also far off locations have thronged Puducherry on the eve of New Year. It has been a virtual sea of humanity on the sea shore, in temples and other places of worship since yesterday. All lodges and accommodation centres had been full and bookings were made much in advance by those making Puducherry a part of their itinerary particularly on the occasion of New Year.

Sri Aurobindo Ashram, the famous shrine of Sri Manakula Vinayakar and the beach besides the museum and the beautifully maintained Bharathi park are famous tourist haunts. Police have made elaborate arrangements to restrict movement of vehicles and special police teams have been deployed at important centres to ensure that visitors faced no disturbance. - Agencies Dec 31, 2008
