Various dĂ©vatÄ are invoked for certain purposes. They are given offering & asked to do certain tasks. Once the demand (in form of prayer) is made, dĂ©vatÄ is asked to go back (visarjana).

A man doing all nityakarma for family while being established in brahmacharya and his wife being established in sati-dharma: when this happens, the man becomes Atri and Woman becomes AnasĆ«yÄ.

That provokes a q - hey can’t Hinduism also “secularise” - remove the Hindu “baggage” and hence increase appeal ostensibly to a wider set of people. This is the line of thinking that leads to “Yoga/ Pranayama/ Bhagavad Gita” are not Hindu/ religious etc. (3/n)
In Hinduism the universal manifests in the specific. Yatha Pinde Tatha Brahmande. Seeing the specific as a barrier rather than as a fractal or path or foundation is wrong. The specific is NEVER a barrier, it gives flesh and detail to the divine and helps us access it (5/n)
Plus the divine is present in everything. We cannot distil out the divine from any ritual praxis. The divine inspired it, and that’s why such praxis acts as a route to access the divine. Shivaratri, Yoga, Pranayama without Hinduism, is Hamlet without the Prince of Denmark (6/n)
I don’t think Sadhguru ever shies away from saying he is a Hindu and he is teaching Hindu thought, prayers and practices. Disclaimer: I have never met Sadhguru, I have never been to his ashram. I have nothing to do with Isha foundation whatsoever.

With every passing day my belief in Indian people's alleged spirituality depletes at a rapid pace. Long back I thought that a vague spiritual principle was guiding lives of Indians. That romance has been shattered. I hoped against hope for long but I seen no evidence anywhere.
Today, the AIT camp is a happy valley protected from the rising waters of counter-evidence.
But waters keep rising, and the time can't be far off when the waters will overcome the dam and drastically impact the cosy life in the valley.
