How to make the right choice when faced with a serious decision ... by Sandeep
Oftentimes in life, one hits a fork in the road where one is faced with a life-changing decision and has to make a choice without knowing all the facts. In such situations, one must understand that there are alternate futures. Those who want to grow spiritually should know that the inner motive with which one makes the choice is more important than the choice itself. One must examine one's thoughts and ask, "what is the underlying motive on which my choice is based?" Is the choice driven by money, comfort, desire for social status, religious law, despair, anger, cruelty or the inability to admit mistakes? Can one live with the decision in the future...? One must look for signs of uneasiness in the heart. Looking back later in life, it is quite possible that one realizes that the choice one made then was pre-destined!

My sense then is that the future of poetry will probably arise, for the English language, out of the indigenous Anglophone so-called "Third World " which is still closer to the foundations I spoke of at the start than most of us are. From there and also from the so-called "Minorities" in this and other Anglophone First World countries who, it may be argued, are or can be in many ways, whether deliberately or not, closer to indigenous thought than we are. These "Minorities" in this country have produced many of the poetries I have called "Liberation Poetries" stemming in large part from the Civil Rights Movements of the 1960s -- but they are still far from completely integrated into what we label as American Poetry.
Anthropologist and poet Nathaniel Tarn reflects on the future of Anglophone poetry. An interesting counterpoint to John Crowe Ransom and Alan Tate or Sri Aurobindo, Tarn sees the future of poetry arising from the unquenched resources of liberation, fraternity and cosmopolitanism which lie beyond the jaded discourse of a mimetic modernism which has already been co-opted by the academy.

Auroville is what I would consider a place of Hippies stuck in the 21st century. Life seems to be easy, not a lot matters, and the money they need to earn with handicraft and growing is little to life…
What we saw of Auroville was a network of dust roads lined by huts, and some houses hidden in the bushes. Not many people in sight, some isolated surreal shops: 'designer kurthas’ (long Indian style shirts), ‘top quality coffee grains’... We arrived to our host’s gate, on a red dust lane, the main house was hidden behind some trees, and we were lead to a two level bamboo structure, communal kitchen downstairs, open air dormitory upstairs. On the bamboo floor: a few mattresses, some clothes, cigarette butts, a dirty rug, old magazines. The current occupants -4 maybe?- seem to have little concern for tidiness.
