That critique of the Congress was by Sri Aurobindo

Sri Aurobindo was a freedom fighter, a revolutionary and a political activist jailed for his political views even while he embarked on his great spiritual journey. Swami Vivekananda concerned himself with not only inner growth and personal evolution but influenced political thought. (Gandhi was known to say that his whole life was an effort to bring into actions the ideas of Vivekananda.) ...
Anna Hazare and his cohorts (even Swami Agnivesh) just didn’t represent the Hindu card the way Ramdev seems to do. And with a ruling party accused of practicing pseudo-secularism and appeasing its Muslim vote bank, along with the double jeopardy of its chairperson being a Roman Catholic by birth, is it any wonder that Hindu leaders like Ramdev are given the import they are? And by the way, that critique of the Congress was by Sri Aurobindo. Malavika Sangghvi is a Mumbai-based writer

Review of 'The Philosophy of Sri Aurobindo' by Ram Nath Sharma, 1960. Mother India August 1961
One of the key aids of Babaji Maharaj to spread the message and philosophy of The Mother and Sri Aurobindo’s in Orissa has been volumes of his writings in simple Oriya in the name of “Sri Aurobindo Loka Sahitya”. He wrote small booklets on various topics of interest to simplify the philosophy of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother to help the people of Orissa understand and appreciate it.
He has also written articles in various different publications including, news letters, magazines, souvenirs etc. Apart from his writings in books and articles, there are innumerable number of letters to the devotees across Orissa responding to queries of various facets of life and challenges in the path of Integral Yoga. Many of his speeches during meetings and functions have also been archived.
On the occasion of his Birth Centenary, members of All Orissa Sri Aurobindo Study Circle Committee resolved to pay their tribute to Babaji Maharaj by bringing out collections of his works, including Sri Aurobindo Loka Sahitya, articles, letters and speeches.
Many of the devotees have taken keen interest in translating these volumes into English as Babaji Maharaj’s works have always been in Oriya. We intend to publish these translations in series for the benefit of our readers.

Sri Aurobindo's Savitri is a mantra for transformation

Note the following words—“presumably”, “does not seem”, “seems to have”, “may have”, “would have”. Is this history or guesswork?
Why this topic on Swami Vivekanada is strated on this group? We Sikhs do not believe in Yoga and Sikh Gurus and Gurbani totally discard it. Vivekanada himdelf said when in USA that he is there to give the knowledge to west which is already known to east. Now a question arises that if i know English, no one will try to teach me, it can be taught to those who do not know.
I mean to say if Vivekanada had tried to share his knwoledge with we indians, he would haven't got such fame because we are aware to that knowledge and could question him/ discuss with him on certain points. he gave the knowledge to west, may be right or wrong but ignorants accepted it cheerfully.
I do not give any importance to Swami Vivekanada, he was scholar of Vedanta and got famed by Hindus due to this reason only. I have read his book VEDANTA found nothing to impress me. Regards -- Ajmer Singh Randhawa. New Delhi

Moderator: Your view of Sikhi, Ajmer Singh ji, is very apparently quite at variance with the view of some other Sikhs. You would be interested to read a detailed article here: http://sikhcoalition.org/Sikhism3.asp
Sirdar Kapur Singh ji affirms "it is legitimate to say that the concept of the 'superman', which agitated the mind of Nietzsche during the 19th century in Europe, and from whom the modern Indian thinker, Aurovindo Ghose, has taken his cue, is first of all and truly adumbrated in the Sikh scripture; and that the conscious effort of man alone is at this stage, capable of furthering the process of evolution that has gone so far to make and shape the material and human world, is now more or less accepted by the thinking modern minds."
As regards Sikh thought he says "their treatment by Sikhism is, in the main, on the lines of the Hindu and Buddhist speculative thought. Wherever Sikhism differs or departs from these lines of thought, it does so, as a rule, not by introducing new terms or concepts, but by underlining an already familiar concept or by amplifying or interpreting it otherwise. This is, as it should be, for, thus alone it is possible to effect a genuine new advance or expansion in the cultural and religious horizon of mankind and it is thus that all great cultures and civilizations have emerged and developed."
Your view apparently is shaped by 'raagis' untrained in the nuances of Sikh thought, who preach in gurdwaras, interpreting the scripture in their own poor light. Even educated and so called erudite scholars of Sikhism misinterpret profusely. God is interpreted as unborn by one and as 'does not take birth' by another. The first aligns with the Hindu and Christian interpretation, the second with the Islamic. In fact Sikh theology has no standard interpretation so far, as the Christian Church has. There are of course dissenting churches.

However, SACAC’s weekend certificate course on Self Exploration through Theatre is essentially a transformative journey for the participant, where one learns to work in a team, yet excel individually; discover oneself and understands one’s opinions and the reasons for them, expresses one’s thoughts in public and holds on to one’s conviction – while also learning that adaptability and flexibility are basic ingredients for growth.
The participant has a chance to discover who he/she is and why, and puts an effort into understanding the world around him/her - and what needs to be done on his/her part to make it more livable, and one where the participant’s emotions, ideas, sensitivity and vulnerability are understood and accepted.

“The Lives” has instead clearly exposed their ugly underbelly

The 83rd anniversary of that historic meeting, between two of the country's foremost intellectuals, was observed at the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) by the World Peace Trust here on Sunday.
Secretary of the trust Dibyendu Goswami said that though the poet was older to Sri Aurobindo, he offered his poem in 1907 as a “salutation” to the philosopher.

Eventually, he very strongly felt that he wanted to share with the world what he had learned and experienced so in 2007, he came out of the Ashram and joined Auroville.
At Auroville, after giving a series of lectures on Sri Aurobindo’s Yoga, he realised the need to use live and interactive mediums which will become for participants of the workshop, a trigger to begin inner exercises. That gave birth to his multimedia presentations and eventual Inner-Work-Workshops.

Sri Aurobindo emerged in the first decade of the century as a revolutionary leader of the struggle for india's freedom, who electrified the nation through his writings. The field of his work widened rather rapidly and after a series of yogic experiences, he withdrew in 1910 to Pondicherry and plunged into a more revolutionary struggle related directly to the evolutionary crisis through which mankind is passing today. In 1914, Mother (Mirra Alfassa) came to Pondicherry from France and joined Sri Aurobindo. Thus began a momentous collaboration for supramental action on earth.
If our search is free from preconceptions and dogmas, if our search is for knowledge that is comprehensive and authentic, if our search is for action that ensures the highest good of the entire world, then the study of Sri Aurobindo and Mother becomes inescapable.

I tend to leave aside some of these high-brow observations made by the Mother like this one about the significance of 15th August.  Thats because I don't possess the consciousness she had when she spoke of these things, so it makes no sense to interpret it intellectually.

There is a reason why he was considered the intellectual leader of the Free India movement and this book is his magnum opus. It is not an easy read as each paragraph if not each sentence holds deep levels of meaning.
This book is impossible to describe, you have to read it. If you feel intimidated by its sheer size, start at the last chapter and then work you way through it in bits and pieces. It is a stunning preview of what is to come in human evolution, written with soul and courage, and stretching you beyond where you think you can go... turn off all your preconceived ideas about where we're going and what you are capable of, and follow Aurobindo on his extremely courageous, adventurous and deeply human journey.
