One of the prized faculties in the Veda is sight
पश्, दृश्, अक्ष् these dhatus will often appear in the mantras. And the Veda is not just the powerful resonant sounds of mantras but it is also a feast for the eyes. Why?
Sight is perhaps the most powerful faculty among humans (of course, hearing is too but we will come to it later)
But we don’t know how to see. We must learn to see things as they are यथा भूत दर्शनम्
Pay attention to the forms around you without using labels. Notice the colors, the light, the shades. Look at who is looking. This person called I. This I. Look!
Let there be only the witnessing साक्ष्य भाव . Then you may notice witnessing doesn’t need to be directed. It happens on its own, all the time सहज
Look! Right now! And the world is immediately transformed.

Vedic Meditation
The Art of Holding or धी
We are going to practice holding without effort
Gently let your attention come to the point of interest you have
It could be yourself. The beautiful tree in front of you. A flame. Anything. Hold them deeply, intimately
No straining. Relax. Hold the object in the space you are
Nothing to do otherwise. No agenda. No desire to change. Just be with what interests you. Pay attention, we often tell our children. But we don’t practice dhi either
“In the space of your attention.” Hold gently, quietly. If nothing happens no big deal.
Yesterday we talked about looking पश् । Today we play with धी

What is dhi धी?
Dhi is the root of words such as Dhairya, Dharana, Dhyaan, Dharaa, Dharma, etc
The root dhi means to hold, to bear, to carry
When we apply it to the mind, it implies the ability to hold a concept, a thought, an object
From this also comes the sense of assigning everything its right place. Thus, the word Buddhi or intelligence comes from dhi. Samadhi too gets its beautiful meaning
Dhi or intelligence is different from Mati which means the thinking mind.
Dhi appears frequently in the Veda beginning with RV 1.1.7. उप त्वाग्ने दिवेदिवे दोषावस्तर्धिया वयम् । नमो भरन्त एमसि ॥७॥
(That is, we come to you, O Agni, meditating daily, day and night, utterly surrendered to you in our Intelligence)
It also famously appears in the Gayatri Mantra. Dhi is a very powerful meditation or dhyana. If all we did is master dhi as Dharana, we could master anything in the world.

Writing is a solitary task, so when a reader appreciates a book, it encourages one to continue. Specially when the appreciation arrives on the same day that the publisher informed me that they want to pulp 500 copies of the book! Anyone who has read Sri Aurobindo would know how difficult he is to understand . This book is a result of decades of reading and understanding him. He has a very comprehensive philosophy that has gone far beyond traditional concepts.

I fully endorse the views of Shri G Devarajan, General Secretary, All India Forward Bloc. Political leaders must not distort history for their narrow political gains! Netaji is the only leader to date who united all communities as Bharatiyas. He opposed communal politics & believed that there is no place for leaders who used communalism to fight communalism. Leaders of BJP should learn from the tallest leader of their party- Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee-what he thought of Netaji. He could rise above politics to pay homage to Netaji. Jai Hind! @narendramodi @GDevarajanaifb

Ideology (“Subhasism”): It combined socialism + strong Indian nationalism + anti-imperialism. Bose drew inspiration from Indian spiritual traditions (Swami Vivekananda, Sri Aurobindo) alongside socialist ideas. It was not Marxist-Leninist in the orthodox sense of the CPI. Bose envisioned a “free socialist state” but one rooted in Indian conditions, not copied from the Soviet model.
Relation with Communists: There was temporary cooperation in 1939 via the short-lived Left Consolidation Committee (involving Forward Bloc, Congress Socialists, CPI, Kisan Sabha, etc.).
This broke down quickly. After the Soviet Union entered World War II in 1941, the CPI declared it a “People’s War” and supported the British war effort. Bose’s group remained firmly anti-British (leading to his alliance with Axis powers and the INA). The communists withdrew support.
