(1933-2007) was a distinguished Aurobindonian scholar and an inspiring speaker, especially on Sri Aurobindo’s epic Savitri. In his memory an annual lecture series has been initiated at Savitri Bhavan. The speaker on the first of these occasions was Narad (Richard Eggenberger) whose association with Dr. Nadkarni and his family dates back to the early 1960s. Narad, singer and gardener, has also been a reader and lover of Savitri for the past 50 years. He spoke on “Savitri – the Way of Love”, exploring many beautiful passages on Love occurring throughout the poem. [The problems of human unity in Sri Aurobindo's light (Sri A. B. Patel memorial lectures)]

Today's new in English features an interview with Shakti, whose painting exhibition is currently hanging at Pitanga. Shakti paints with oil on canvas, specializing mostly on faces, whose eyes seem to follow the viewer. More about painting comes as an announcement on Arno Stern's work, which is exactly in line with the ideologies of the Mother and Sri Aurobindo. Stern's Play of Painting is neither art, art therapy, nor arts and crafts but rather a play to unleash the organic memory of the child. And the adult, as well, who may take the time to unlearn and experience anew.
